What can I say?..... When I relocated to Ca. about 4 years ago, I was so impressed with the diversity of the people, the terrain, the climate, the cost of living, and the fitness activities.

So, I had to see what my body could do æas I was a mid-west gal. æSince my transition, I am hooked. æMy initial adventure was running. I joined a group like TNT that started you as a novice and trained you to do a full marathon. æI couldn't believe the transformation within myself: weight loss, increase self-esteem, æfeeling good, and making new friends. æWhen, I was doing my runs and/or marathons, I would see these TNT participants and ægreat sag support . æI was so impressed with their enthusiasm and team spirit and thought that I must see what they are all about. Initially, I was scared off with the fundraising but.....

I had taken up rollerblading and loved it; however, I took a great fall and suffered a pelvic fracture. æNeedless to say, I couldn't run my third marathon...So, per my doctor, I had to cycle as part of my rehab. æI had no idea about riding a bike but I new that the roadies(road bike people) seemed to have a good time. My sports doctor recommended TNT. æI went to the info meeting and signed up. It was the best decision that I had made. æI work at Stanford hospital (I am a registered nurse) and sought the research dept. æOk: do you receive support from the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society? æAgain, I was in awe: I was told that they wouldn't æbe there if it were not the funding of the Society. æWhen, they walked me through their projects, I had no further doubt. Once my colleagues and or patients heard what I was doing, the dollars appeared. æIf anyone needs fundraising advice, seek me.

I joined TNT a year ago June. It is a great Society but then I am biased. æThis season will mark my fourth century ride with the team. æBesides cycling with TNT, I have made friends and connections with various cycle clubs. Needless to say, my running and rollerblading have taken a back seat to my bike.

I wish you success in your adventure and hope that your experiences will be as rewarding as mine!-
